This course is held in English.
Would you like to slow down and relax for a few hours while you let your creativity run wild and shape the most beautiful things with your hands? In this four-week intensive course in Berlin, you will learn the basic hand-building techniques of ceramic production to create every imaginable shape. Your instructor, Chiu Ching Man, will guide you through various techniques such as thumb pressure, beading and plate techniques.
The course is perfect for beginners or people with previous knowledge who want to deepen their skills. You will learn various decoration methods and end up glazing your own works of art. Let your creativity run wild and discover the world of ceramics!

Please note that we take a break one week before the glazing date to fire all of your pieces. There is also a break after the second appointment for organizational reasons. Please also note that the time of the first appointment differs from the others.
Your course leader:
Your instructor is Chiu Ching Man. She studied Visual Art (BA) in Hong Kong and specialized in ceramics. They are particularly fascinated by construction techniques. This artistic process gives her time and space to approach her idea layer by layer. Construction techniques enable endless experimentation, which she does with passion and often leads to unexpected results.
How does this activity work?
- 1st appointment: Introduction to ceramic processes and learning the technique of thumb-pressing
- 2nd appointment: Introduction to beading technology, the ideal method for creating larger objects
- 3rd appointment: Learn plate technology
- 4th appointment: Glaze all of your pieces using various techniques such as dipping, brushing or pouring over.
There are 12 studio glazes to choose from.
Who should definitely take part?
The course is ideal for beginners with no previous knowledge and for people with initial experience in pottery who want to deepen their skills.
