Graffiti & street art workshop program:

Duration: 2 hours
Target group: beginners and interested people of all ages

Introduction and history of graffiti (15 minutes)

Brief history of graffiti:

• Overview of the origins of graffiti and its development as an art form.
• Well-known graffiti styles and famous artists.

Legal aspects and security measures:

• Importance of respect for public spaces and the distinction between legal and illegal graffiti.
• Brief introduction to safety precautions when handling spray cans.

Basic techniques and materials (30 minutes)

Tools and materials:

• Presentation of spray cans, markers, caps (nozzles) and templates.
• Differences in nozzles and how they produce different line thicknesses.

First technical exercises:

• Practice lines, fill areas, and color gradients.
• Get to know and check spray can technology on a practice area.

Develop your own style (45 minutes)

Tagging and sketching:

• Introduction to tagging (signature) and its importance in graffiti culture.
• Participants create their own signature and outline initial letter shapes.

Easy design of a small graffiti piece:

• Choose a theme or a short message.
• Planning the colors and shapes and transfer them to the practice area.

Conclusion and exchange (30 minutes)

Presentation of works:

• Each participant shows their work and explains their ideas and implementation.

Feedback session and reflection:

• Open round for feedback, questions and tips.

Optional: taking pictures of the result/group photo

• Tips on how to optimally photograph the finished work in order to capture and share it.

This compact program enables participants to learn the basics of graffiti art and to create their own small work. It provides space for creative expression and promotes exchange within the group.
