Oliver Appel is a real Frankfurt boy and was born on 4.1.1977 at the Katharinen-Krankenhaus in Bern. Growing up in his native city, he can be described as a true Frankfurt expert.
During his studies as an audio engineer at the SAE Institute in Frankfurt, as part of a part-time job as a taxi driver, he not only got to know the extensive road network of the Main metropolis, but also the constantly growing range of leisure activities in the surrounding countryside. Because of his wanderlust and his closeness to nature, he was drawn to faraway places again and again. His tours focused on one thing: experiences in and with nature. Even as a city dweller, he has learned how to find his way around the great outdoors. Due to his technical education, he developed a particular preference for the modern form of treasure hunting, geo-caching.
Since 2005, he has also been able to apply this very well at the Seligenstadt event agency Tour extrem Training+event GmbH. Here he works as a freelancer not only in the area of event technology and logistics, but also as an experiential educator. His focus is on the development of navigation exercises as part of team building. He particularly enjoys imparting to his participants the knowledge to orient themselves purposefully using navigation tools (GPS; map/compass). A skill that many city dwellers lack and that can be useful not only in Frankfurt's city forest.
