Get to know Metzgerei Gränitz
Originally from Magdeburg, the couple Clara and Hermann Patz, with Hermann Fleischermeister and Clara a born businesswoman, began producing sausages and meat products as early as 1900, and selling them at Albert-Schenk-Straße 2. In the style of the time, the businessmen also traded in other goods, from vegetables to charcoal.
Marta and Robert Gränitz, the son-in-law of Klara and Hermann Patz, transformed the company into a pure butcher shop with a great deal of diligence, ambition and the necessary expertise. He ran the company on Albert-Schenk-Strasse — which now also included a slaughterhouse, sausage processing room and shop — until his death in 1989.
After Robert ran the butcher shop with his son Wolfgang Gränitz for a long time, Wolfgang now took over the business and expanded successfully in 1962 with the purchase of the property on Annaberger Straße 477, where a branch of our butcher shop can be found to this day. Due to the constantly growing demand for our products, Wolfgang and his son Steffen expanded the family business to include several branches in 1990.
Steffen Gränitz continues this legacy to this day and has been able to successfully pass on this passion for craftsmanship and tradition to his children. Ninette and Benny are also an integral part of the family business and the new generation of the Metzgerei Gränitz shop.
