Alexa Dilla was born in Essen in 1960 and studied painting, sculpture and graphic design at the Merz Academy in Stuttgart. She is a professional artist and lives in Berlin.
With her many years of experience as an art director in renowned agencies and her own Internet agency for digital media in Cologne, which she founded back in the late 90s, she has profound knowledge in this area.
Alexa has taken part in master workshops with well-known watercolor artists such as Oskar Koller, Marc Folly and Ian Stewart in order to constantly develop her skills.
Her works have been presented in various exhibitions, including the Women's Museum with Adelheid Kilian, the annual exhibitions of the German Watercolor Society and a solo exhibition at the VHS Solingen.
Alexa has been professionally dedicated to art for over 15 years and has already won several competitions. She has also published a book about watercolor painting. She is one of the first members of the German Watercolor Society and has partnerships with Faber-Castell and Hahnemühle.
She has been active as an urban sketcher in Cologne and later in Berlin since 2012. One formative experience was the four years in which she worked as a curator for TUI on “Mein Schiff” and traveled almost the entire globe. During this time, over 20 sketchbooks and around 35 watercolors were created, which capture the Mediterranean, the Atlantic, the Pacific, Spitsbergen to Singapore and from Iceland to Colombia.
Publications about her sketchbooks and travels have been published in the “Palette & Drawing Pencil”, on the Hahnemühle blog and on her own blog.
On her international painting trips and workshops, she teaches watercolor techniques, the urban sketching toolbox and pleinair painting.
