Have you always wanted to try pottery on a turntable?

In this 2.5-hour course in Berlin, you will get a comprehensive insight into the basics of turntable pottery. Under the guidance of experienced course instructors, you will learn how to center and raise the tone. You can design two to four of your own vessels, which are then fired and glazed.

Who is teaching this course?

Your course instructor is Antonia Joubert, Ella Brew Stewart or Sharman Riegger, depending on which date you book.

Antonia (she/her) is a ceramist and founder of Antonia Maria • studio. After studying interior design in Nantes, France, she completed an apprenticeship as a ceramicist. An internship at the Joaquim Pombal studio in Porto, Portugal, inspired her to work thoughtfully with local materials. This experience reinforced her passion for teaching the various aspects of the craft.

Ella Brew (sier/dey) is a multimedia artist and is passionate about learning new skills and creating functional objects. Ella loves combining turntable pieces with hand-building techniques, designing tableware and experimenting with new processes. Time and again, Ella is fascinated by the diversity that the world of ceramics has to offer.

Sharman (he/his) is co-founder and owner of Clayers Collective. Before studying art, he completed a three-year apprenticeship as a ceramist with Uwe Löllmann, during which he studied Japanese wood stove fire intensively. Various stays in Japan have shaped his understanding of ceramics and handicrafts.

How does this activity work?

  • Introduction to turntable pottery
  • Prepare and center the sound
  • Raise and shape a vessel (up to 3 pieces are included in the course fee)
  • We glaze your pieces with the glaze of your choice (12 glazes to choose from). You can pay for the glaze service after the course (7€ per piece).
  • The finished pieces are ready for collection after approx. 6 weeks. We will inform you about this via email.

Who should definitely take part?

The course is aimed at beginners and anyone who wants to get a feel for the tone on the turntable. Adults and young people over 14 years of age are welcome.

No previous experience is required!
