From a beginner to an experienced self-made chef! Our exclusive cooking class in Berlin is guaranteed to make you a better cook in 6 hours. Take with you a lot of knowledge and know-how that you can implement in your kitchen at home. Learn everything about the right knives and boards, learn how to correctly select and process fruit, vegetables and meat, discover different ways of cooking and preparation and will soon effortlessly put together a perfect menu. In this beginner's course part 1, chef Michael Hoffmann doesn't show you how to prepare a simple noodle dish, but this is really about the real basics of classic cooking.
What you’ll do in the class
It starts with a trip to Paul Bocuse's French cuisine. We start with the absolute basics, climb up the cooking ladder and finish with meat.
After an introduction to the topics of kitchen hygiene, measurement units and food science, it's off to the kitchen. In practice, we focus on the following topics:
- boards and knives
- cutting techniques
- Buy, prepare and professionally process vegetables
- Preparation methods such as blanching, steaming, roasting, sautéing, braising
- Prepare basic soups
- Prepare basic sauces (jus, béchamel, veloute, bolognese)
- spices (herbs and spices)
- Prepare filling side dishes (potatoes, rice, pasta)
- lipids
- Plan a menu correctly
- In between, of course, we try our prepared dishes again and again!

RunningPapaya
Michael Hoffmann completed his cooking apprenticeship at the 5-star hotel Bayerischer Hof. He also studied nutritional science and completed continuing education as a nutrition coach. Since 2016, he has been cooking regularly in his own cooking school and sharing his knowledge.
A great little course. Instructor Johannes enthusiastically taught us the beginnings of French cuisine. We cooked the menu together and were thus able to do the individual steps for the individual dishes ourselves.
