About this class
Chilli in the air, pan sound in the ear, fresh herbs on the tongue. Anyone who has ever strolled through an Asian food store will never forget this moment. Because street food is more than just food — it is culture, communication, history, lifestyle. That is exactly what Vivian brings to you at Kochatelier65 in this Asian cooking class.
With lots of knowledge, warmth and noticeable enthusiasm, she introduces you to the basics of Southeast Asian cuisine: Which spices characterize Vietnam, Thailand and China? Which ingredients are typical — and what really matters when cooking? How do you eat traditionally, how do you combine?
Before we wave the cooking spoon, we take time to understand the culinary culture — with short anecdotes, spice samples and the odd aha moment. That's when we roll summer rolls, roast satay skewers, bake bánh mì, fold dumplings and turn the studio into a steaming cooking kitchen in the middle of Asia for a few hours.
Vivian shows you step by step how to easily prepare typical street food dishes yourself — with respect for tradition, but always suitable for everyday use and without frills.
A course for anyone who is not just looking for recipes, but also wants to understand the “why” behind them. For beginners, explorers, wanderlust addicts — and anyone who wants to know why street food is at the heart of Asia.
