About this experience

A puzzling advertisement appears in the Hamburger Morgenpost: After the death of an industrialist, his inheritance should not go to his family — but to those who are able to pass his final tests. You accept the invitation. What follows is a journey through almost a century of city history: You follow in the footsteps of a man whose life is closely intertwined with the rise and transformation of Hamburg — from the 1930s to the present day.

The route leads from Jungfernstieg — where Germany's first asphalted road was built in 1838 and opened the first underwater subway stop in 1931 — through memorials of the war years, the town hall square, which survived an undetonated bomb, through decades of reconstruction to modern HafenCity. The end point is the Elbphilharmonie. The puzzles are directly linked to the locations: sometimes you need an unusual perspective, sometimes a good sense of hidden details, sometimes simply the willingness to look more closely than anyone else in front of you.

We developed this tour ourselves: We traveled the route, chose the locations, wrote the story and designed the puzzles directly on site — tailored to what you really see, find and experience there. No AI, no generic template. Each of our tours is created this way, and you can tell.

In between, you'll learn things about Hamburg that no travel guide tells — about architecture between imperial and modern times, formative events in the city's history and surprising fun facts that make you see the city with completely different eyes. Anyone who thinks they know Hamburg will still be surprised. Whoever is here for the first time will understand the city better afterwards than after any city tour.

The start is at Jungfernstieg, right next to the subway and S-Bahn. The mission ends at the Elbphilharmonie — one of the most impressive places in the city, and the perfect starting point for everything that comes after that.

How does this experience take place?

After purchase, you will immediately receive your login details — no download, no waiting time. You start when you want: The tour is available at any time, no fixed date required.

On Jungfernstieg, open the web app, read the first clue from the morning post — and the hunt begins. The app takes you from station to station through Hamburg: solve puzzles, discover details, unlock the next task. You set the pace yourself.

The tour can be played solo, in pairs or in a group — and if you like it more exciting, you can compete against each other in competition mode. At over 2.5 hours, it is Hamburg's longest rally in the program; if you want to discover more along the way, it takes longer. The mission ends at the destination, the Elbphilharmonie — with HafenCity restaurants and bars right outside the door.

In case of bad weather, the appointment can be rescheduled free of charge.

Who is it suitable for

This tour is for anyone who really wants to understand Hamburg — not as a postcard theme, but as a city with a real story. For couples who are looking for a special day, for groups of friends, families and anyone who wants more than an ordinary walk. Just as playable solo.

No previous knowledge, no sporting requirements. The puzzles address various strengths — powers of observation, logic, historical instinct — so that every person in the group has their moment. Escape room experience is neither a requirement nor an advantage.

Anyone who knows Hamburg will still come across details that they have never noticed. If you're new to the city, you'll get the most vivid introduction you can imagine — with a story you won't soon forget.
