The course is ideal for beginners and anyone who wants to do something creative in addition to everyday office life. We received a lot of interesting information about wood processing and were able to let our creativity run wild when working on the cutting board. Great course!

The course is also suitable for absolute beginners, as Mischa is by your side all the time, helping and supporting, but also allows (work) steps to be taken alone. There were three of us and really had enough time for everything. And fun anyway 😊

The course was very nice. I felt very comfortable. Mischa-Amadeus showed and explained every work step. I was able to practice and carve on my own wood. I ended up with a great self-carved spoon and was very proud.

The course was a lot of fun. The host told a lot about wood and the wood and furniture industry. People now look at wooden furniture with different eyes. We have learned a lot and will use our kitchen boards with particular love.

Concept is great. Unfortunately, the rooms are much too cold.

In 2 studies, we have produced a cutting board step by step from raw wood to finished board. Mischa was very well versed and taught us beginners the basics of wood processing. Definitely recommended.

Get to know woodboom

Your host:

Mischa spent a large part of his youth in nature and learned how to treat her with respect early on. During hikes, he learned to taste and identify the first delicacies. From an early age, he became involved as a youth leader in alpine sports and was highly motivated to share his acquired knowledge with others.

As a video producer, he successfully marketed his creative approach, but after a few years, he lacked the technical element. The founding of woodboom, a brand for solid wood furniture with sustainable values, enabled him to focus on this aspect again. Workshops have been part of the product range for a long time, because for him, sustainability also means sharing knowledge. With woodcuisine, he brought more creativity to his everyday life and continues his culinary education.

In winter, we want to transport nature and revive it in a place full of comfort. Our idyllic venue in Berlin-Lichtenberg offers space for groups of up to 30 people, where you can enjoy nature's cuisine in a warm, Christmassy setting.

Woodboom's home is a light-flooded industrial building. There is one of our fire rings outside.

On the first floor, spend the evening at one of our beautiful large solid wood tables, in this case a 650-year-old oak tree. The cooking takes place on the Feuerring, and if you are interested, you can round off the evening by the fire with homemade mulled wine.

Your expert:

Martin Rötzel, runs The Monk Garden and is our main point of contact when it comes to wild and special things from nature.

In his previous life, he was a successful actor, backing dancer, visual artist, but his education was a hotel specialist.

At some point, he took a serious look at the topic of permaculture and forest gardens. Ten years ago, he decided to give a face to the topic of wild herbs and the cultivation of plants that have become rare. He reflected on his childhood in Ostwerstfalen and the joint walks with his father through the Teutoburg Forest, where he began mixing tea from wild-collected herbs at the age of five. With the creation of several gardens, including the Paulus Garden, a very precise idea of the format of The Monk Garden began. For about 2 years now, there has been a new biotope in Mariendorf, where many special things are grown for Berlin's fine dining gastronomy. Of course, Martin Rötzel still collects most of the game today.

Through woodcuisine, he passes on his knowledge to interested parties and has thus motivated many of our past participants to revive new old knowledge.
