Get to know Rebensache

Hi, I'm Chris, founder and managing director of Rebensache.

I grew up in the Palatinate in the wine-growing village of Sankt Martin, between grapevines, wine cellars and half-timbered idyll. My grandpa's winery was my playground. It wasn't until I moved away from home and out into the world that I realized how naturally wine has shaped my life and my understanding of conviviality, joy of life and enjoyment — and how little this world is accessible to other people. So I set out to get to know new cultures and people and understand their understanding of cuisine and society. My stops also included the world's most fantastic wine regions, from Burgundy, Piedmont and Rioja to South Africa, California and Australia.

My passion for wine later prompted me not only to share the contents of my refrigerator with my family and friends, but also to accompany wine events, theme nights and business events. I now live in Munich, where I advise restaurateurs, retailers and manufacturers and organise events for companies and private individuals. I am a certified sommelier (WSET) and can spell 'biological acid degradation' backwards in record time. That's why I know that theoretical knowledge alone doesn't make wine taste better. Wine should be fun — that is also what my events and consultations are about. For me, the magic of my job lies in the moment, when people of different backgrounds and levels of experience gather around a table and open the first bottle together. Where a convivial evening starts, I like to be involved in a creative process. What remains after that are wonderful emotions and memories of pleasure.
