About this class

Smell. Taste. Discover.
In the historic setting of the Alte Westend Apotheke, sommeliers Christian Hiery and Verena Beck invite you to a special evening that combines science, crafts and fun experiences. Instead of dry theory, an interactive workshop awaits you in which you sharpen your senses, decipher aromas — and get to know wine in a new way.

The focus is on the three aroma categories, which give each wine its unmistakable signature:

Primary aromas - the essence of the grape: berries, citrus or herbs

Secondary aromas — the winemaker's work: yeast notes, butter, brioche

Tertiary aromas — the magic of maturity: tobacco, leather, dried fruit

With test aromas from our “sensory laboratory”, you can search for clues like a perfumer. You train your nose and palate before you apply what you have learned directly in guided wine rounds and small blind tasting challenges. In doing so, you not only learn to recognize aromas, but also how to put them into words — a key to even greater enjoyment and safety when choosing a wine.

Duration: approx. 4 hours
Location: Alte Westend Apotheke, Munich
Price: 150€ including wines

Hi, I'm Chris, founder and managing director of Rebensache. Wine should be fun — that is also what my events are about. Where a convivial evening starts, I like to be involved in a creative process. What remains after that are wonderful emotions and memories of pleasure.
