Real expressive painting at Atelier Klang und Farbe in Dresden —
A workshop for beginners to try out and for “repeat painters.”
In this painting time of around 90 minutes, you will embark on a journey to your inner colors, images and feelings. By playing sensually with gouache paints, brushes, spatulas, sponges and bare hands on large-format sheets of paper on the painting wall, you can express yourself creatively and follow your inner impulses. You can reduce stress, leave everyday life behind, recharge your batteries. You watch what lies dormant within you and wants out. Perhaps after the first painting lesson, you have the feeling that you have come a bit closer to yourself.
Short mindfulness exercises and meditative singing bowls help you out of the hustle and bustle of everyday life and focus on the painting wall.
The printout painting period takes place in my “Atelier Klang & Farbe” in Dresden. Painting is done in a confidential atmosphere with 3 to 6 painters.
What is expression painting?
Expressive painting is free, intuitive painting — value-free, open-ended, focused on the process of painting. It is playing with paints, brushes, spatulas, your own hands... an immersion in perceptions and feelings while painting... letting emotions, thoughts, memories emerge... a release of goals and expectations... a path to yourself.
As a trained painting instructor/painting guide based on Laurence Fotheringham, I will accompany you as an empathetic listener, as an “obstetrician” for your processes and paintings.
What you’ll do in the class
The beginning of a meal is to arrive and switch off from everyday life. This can be, for example, a short sound meditation with singing bowls. Then each participant starts painting, pasting, filling, experimenting... Everyone for themselves, at their painting place, on their painting. As a painting guide, I will support and guide you as needed. In the end, your painting stands as a testimony to your painting process. Together, we will round off the painting season with a small final round.
Who is the class suitable for?
Expressive painting is open to all interested people, as no previous artistic knowledge is required. You are welcome — regardless of whether you
- simply want to paint, or
- think you can't paint, or
- want to rediscover and develop yourself through the painting process.
This course is aimed at adults and possibly young people (after consultation).
