Class description
In a series of courses at Flow Motion Studio Neukölln, Nathan takes you on a sporting journey into the world of rhythm on West African djembes.
How does this activity work?
After a warm-up, the instruments are carried around so that they can be played standing up. Being in time with your feet while drumming with your hands is the first challenge for dynamic full body coordination. Training a right-left pattern — pulsation — trains rhythmic feeling and is the general basis of rhythm and music. With this underlying continuous pulsation of the hands, the first notes are played by first playing simple rhythms and gradually making them ever more complex and varied.
The aim of the workshop is to combine various basic rhythms in a group into a polyrhythm. As soon as the polyrhythm is played solidly by the group, Nathan will be inspired to experiment with improvisations and create a creative rhythm session together.
Who should definitely take part?
All people who are interested in combining rhythm and body coordination.
