About this class
In our workshop, you will learn about the fascinating art of kintsugi, a traditional Japanese technique for repairing ceramics and porcelain. Instead of urushi paint and real gold, we use synthetic resin and color pigments. These harden faster and offer a wide range of color options.
You are welcome to bring your own pieces of ceramic or porcelain or practice on one provided by us. After the course, you will take your designed object home.
What you’ll do in the class
This is what you can expect at the workshop in Frankfurt:
- After a warm welcome, we will introduce you to the Japanese tradition of kintsugi, explain what makes this art so special and show you the tools. With our support, you can create your own individual object.

I really enjoyed the workshop. The course instructor was warm and supportive to everyone. After an introduction to the kintsugi technique, including the materials and methods used to repair ceramics, we had a wonderful hands-on session where we learned how to apply it in practice. Overall, my experience was positive and met all expectations.

Eine Erstbegegnung mit Kintsugi. Die Einführung war umfassend, mit Buch- und digitalem Bildmaterial ergänzt. Die Materialien und das Werkzeug in guter Vielfalt vorhanden. Im Prozess sind wir super begleitet worden. Es hat an nichts gefehlt. Wir hätten auch ein Kintsugi-Kid direkt vor Ort erwerben können.
Vielen Dank für die schönen Stunden am großen Tisch. Wir waren vier Freundinnen und drei weitere Frauen.

Ulrike ist super lieb, offen und hilfsbereit. Nach einem informativen Intro geht es los ans “Zerschmettern” der Teile, unter professioneller Anleitung ;) Danach hat man genug Zeit, die New Kintsugi Technik zu lernen und zu üben. Alle Materialien dafür werden gestellt. Bei Fragen oder Unsicherheiten wird sofort geholfen. Die Stimmung war insgesamt sehr nett und man hat sich willkommen und wohl gefühlt. Hat großen Spaß gemacht und die Ergebnisse waren auch toll.

Very entertaining course: Ulrike briefly explained New Kintsugi and provided us with advice and assistance & helpful tips when implementing the technology. We have received sufficient materials and training equipment and have successfully reassembled our own projects. I found the table a bit tight for 8 people, but the nice atmosphere & service made up for it.

I would fully recommend this course. Ulrike was wonderful and even obliged me when I asked her to do the course in English because my mother doesn't speak any German. Of course my fellow participants were kind enough to agree. It was a great course and Ulrike is patient and explains the history of the art form and gives you lots of tips without being overbearing. I would even buy this course as a gift for a friend.

A good introduction to Kentsugi craftsmanship, the event was entertaining in a warm atmosphere. There is a star print for the missing clue that you should not close the gap seamlessly so that the result can be as beautiful as in the pictures.

Very nice instructor and atmosphere. It is best if there are already a few prefabricated fragments available so that there is more time to work. Offering a course after closing time would be an advantage, as there would be no distraction due to customer discussions.
