About this class
A Lover' s Keepsake Workshop - create a meaningful gift for Valentine's Day
Step into the world of 19th-century romance and create a gift that speaks from the heart.
In this unique workshop, we take inspiration from a time when lovers exchanged intimate portraits or small details of appearance as a secret and deeply personal token of affection. The gift you will create during this workshop will be cherished, kept close, and passed on as heirloom.
You will design and emboss your own unique frame for the photo that matters to you. You can bring a favorite one or we will print it instantly from your phone on the mini Instax camera. Guided step by step, you will transform your symbolic affection language into a shiny trinket using beautiful ornaments from the 19th century.
This workshop is about creating a precious, handmade gift for someone you love: a partner, a friend, or a person close to your heart. Each design is individual, and no prior experience is needed. Expect a relaxed, creative atmosphere, plenty of inspiration, and a lot of fun.
Leave with a timeless gift made with care and intention, something your loved one will treasure for years to come. This is not just a present, but a keepsake filled with meaning, love, and memory.
What you’ll do in the class
After a short welcome and introduction, I explain the structure of the workshop and distribute all materials and tools to the participants. Together, we go through the different tools, what they are used for, and how the embossing process works — in a relaxed way that is easy to follow, even for beginners.
We then dive into the world of historical ornamentation. I present selected motifs and forms from the 19th century that serve as inspiration. During the first half of the workshop, each participant develops their own individual pattern for embossing — freely, personally, and tailored to the chosen idea or person.
In the second half of the workshop, we move on to the hands-on making process. We emboss the designed pattern into the material, cut out the base shape of the frame, and carefully adjust everything to fit the dimensions of the selected photograph. I guide the process step by step and assist with technical questions and fine details, so that everyone leaves with a finished, high-quality, and deeply personal embossed frame.
Who is the class suitable for?
The workshop is suitable for anyone who wants to surprise a loved one with something truly special — not a quick craft project, but a beautiful, unique object with historical roots and rich symbolism.
It is designed for both beginners with no prior experience and participants with artistic or hands-on backgrounds. Everything is explained step by step, with individual guidance throughout the process.
The course is open to adults as well as teenagers from around the age of 14, as scissors and occasionally sharp tools are used. It is ideal for people who enjoy working with their hands, design, history, and personal gifts — and for anyone who wants to create something meaningful and lasting.
