Class description

We offer a ceramic repair workshop based on Kintsugi. In traditional Japanese crafts, urushi lacquer, a vegetable resin, is repaired, but it takes a very long time to harden. The second ingredient is traditionally real gold, which is very expensive. So we work with synthetic resin and color pigments, which has the advantage that it hardens quickly and you can choose from many different colors for the repair. You are welcome to bring items made of ceramic or porcelain (and glass) to repair, or you can try out the technology on a piece that we provide. After the course, each participant can take the designed object with them.

How does this activity work?

This is what you can expect at the workshop in Frankfurt:

  • After a warm welcome, we will introduce you to the Japanese tradition of kintsugi, explain what makes this art so special and show you the tools. With our support, you can create your own individual object.

Who should definitely take part?

Any group that would like to spend a relaxing and creative time together is cordially invited. No matter what occasion you have, you've come to the right place!
