About this class
In our weekly painting courses, children playfully discover their own way of expressing themselves as painterly. Together, we dive into the colorful world of art: We experiment with different materials and techniques, practice using different colors such as gouache, watercolor, or pastel crayons, discover collage, printing techniques and more.
Our course program follows a repetitive curriculum of 12 topics:
1. Animals
2. Plants
3. Landscapes
4. Houses
5. Rooms and objects
6. still life
7. Places/scenes (e.g. beach, city, café, school,...)
8. Technology (e.g. cars, airplanes, watches,...)
9. Ornaments, Patterns, and Mandalas
10. Discover abstract shapes
11. Human body and clothing
12th portrait
These painting themes are adapted to the child's development — in principle a “spiral” of artistic growth.
Each topic is combined with
a) a type of color (e.g. gouache, acrylic, pastel chalk,...)
b) a technique (e.g. collage, printing, color mixing, polka dots,...)
c) a pictorial “source”: Do we paint pictures using real models, do we follow our imagination, or do we seek inspiration from works by other artists? (We then look at paintings by well-known artists, such as Monet, Hilma af Klimt, van Gogh, Gabriele Münter,...)
What you’ll do in the class
You can start at any time: The flexible yet systematic course structure allows children to get in and out or, of course, to come regularly and learn new things every time.
The course is led by Alice Bischof, art teacher and freelance artist.
“In my work, I provide a secure framework and at the same time create a lot of freedom so that children can find their own creative expression and try out new techniques. Each child is accompanied individually. I take up the children's learning wishes and use them to develop impulses for the entire group.”
This is how the course continues to develop with the children. The result is varied, inspiring units that promote creativity and, above all, make you happy.
Each session starts with a short warm-up exercise, movement and play. After that, we become completely quiet and go on a short meditation journey. In doing so, we discover the theme of the respective painting lesson.
Who is the class suitable for?
We offer two painting groups:
- Children aged 3-6 years (3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
- Children aged 7-12 years (16:45 - 17:45)
To ensure a personal atmosphere, the group size is limited to a maximum of seven children.
The course is also suitable for children with learning difficulties.
