In this kayak course in Freiburg, you will dive into the world of whitewater sports — perfect for beginners without previous experience. After a thorough safety briefing and material knowledge, you will learn the basics of paddling, how to behave correctly in white water and important techniques such as sweeping, surfing and speed control. Equipped with a helmet, life jacket and kayak, they go on an exciting tour together from Istein to Bad Bellingen. Return transport is included — as well as lots of fun, action and pure nature on the water.
What you’ll do in the class
- Meeting point: JGWV+X2, 79588 Efringen-Kirchen, Germany
Welcome and delivery of equipment (kayak, spray deck, paddle, helmet, life jacket) - Introduction to materials science and safety rules
- short theory unit on paddling techniques and hydrology
- Practical exercises in light white water (sweeping, surfing, control)
- Guided kayak tour from Istein to Bad Bellingen
- Transport back to Istein
- Joint conclusion and exchange of experience
Who is the class suitable for?
The kayak course is aimed at anyone who is interested in water sports, exercise and nature. Ideal for beginners with no previous experience over 14 years of age (accompanied by an adult). You should be able to swim safely and be physically fit.
