How does this activity work?

The tour through the Speicherstadt, HafenCity and Elbphilharmonie starts at Kehwiederspitze.

Right from the start, we dive into the past and hear stories about how Hamburg was able to develop into a metropolis thanks to its port. The Speicherstadt, one of the largest warehouse complexes in the world, attracts visitors with scents of tea, coffee and cocoa. Even today, goods worth several million euros are stored here. The stories of dock workers and merchants seem to be coming back to life in the Speicherstadt. A visit to an original carpet warehouse gives an impression of how goods from all over the world used to be stored and traded (depending on opening hours).

From Speicherstadt, it goes over the Fleete to HafenCity on the Elbe. In the Kesselhaus, the former energy center of Speicherstadt, we learn everything about the current progress and future plans of the largest inner-city urban development project in Europe. Luxurious, pioneering and diverse buildings are being built here, designed by architects from all over the world.

On the way to the nearby Elbphilharmonie, your tour guide will give you initial information about this unique and controversial building. Standing right in front of it, you can admire the full splendor of the Elbphilharmonie. Here you can find out everything about the concert hall: from the idea and construction difficulties, to the technical refinements and details of the special façade, to the acoustics of the concert halls. Interesting and amusing anecdotes complete the picture.

Equipped with this comprehensive insider knowledge, you will then have the opportunity to take the longest curved escalator in the world to the Plaza of the Elbphilharmonie and check what you have heard before with your own eyes and ears. Access is free of charge for you, and our guide will give you the necessary information.

Our tip: From the Plaza, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Port of Hamburg, the city panorama and the Elbe. Please note that it is not possible to visit the concert halls.

Who should definitely take part?

The tour is perfect for anyone interested in history, architecture and urban development, whether locals or tourists.

Families, school classes and groups are also very welcome.
