About this class
This photo walk combines city experience and photography. We explore Leipzig's historic and modern places, learn photo techniques along the way and train our eye for exciting subjects. Optionally, the course can be held in Spanish — ideal for tourists or students who want to combine photography with language practice.
What you’ll do in the class
- Introduction to manual camera settings: aperture, shutter speed, ISO
- Understanding light, exposure, and white balance for better image control
- Image design and composition techniques: rule of thirds, lines, perspectives and image section
- Individual focus: portrait, reportage, still life or nature photography
- Practical photo exercises indoors and outdoors: creative use of existing motifs
- Image selection and the basics of digital post-processing with Gimp or Photoshop Elements
- Feedback round on image impact, tips for improving and building a personal portfolio
Who is the class suitable for?
- Hobby photographers and beginners: Ideal for anyone who wants to take pictures with a smartphone, a compact camera or DSLR* and understand the technology better
- Advanced users who have already had initial experience but want to confidently master their manual camera settings (aperture, time, ISO, white balance) and want to deepen their image composition
- Regardless of the device model: Suitable for any camera that allows manual adjustments — from mobile phones to SLR to system cameras.
- Anyone who enjoys practice and creative exercises: The course combines practical indoor and outdoor exercises with photo discussion, individual feedback and portfolio development.
*Alternative learning paths are offered for cameras without manual adjustment options.
