About this class
A bottle garden is a small, perfect ecosystem that requires very little maintenance. It works completely independently and lasts for years thanks to a self-contained cycle.
The idea of a bottle garden — a so-called “hermetosphere” (from Latin “hermetice” for closed and the Greek “sphaira” for shell) — is over 100 years old.
In a closed system, water evaporates, settles on the glass and is absorbed again by the plants. Through photosynthesis — the conversion of light energy into chemical energy — plants also filter carbon dioxide from the air and release fresh oxygen.
With the materials we provide, you can create your own bottle garden in a container and watch up close how an ecosystem works.
When it comes to a “mini greenhouse”, it is important to choose the right location, good materials and suitable plants.
We prepare all materials — then it's time to garden for you.
