Discover the fascinating art of linocutting with professional artist Rebeca Ventura!

You will receive an introduction to materials and technology, learn about different types of linoleum, transfer sketches, work with negative thinking and practice editing and printing.

We will cover these points:

  • What is linocut?
  • Introduction to materials
  • Differences between linoleum boards
  • Negative thinking
  • Transferring sketches
  • Pruning techniques
  • Colorize
  • Printing (including basic orientation)

What you’ll do in the class

After a short introductory round, Rebeca will introduce you to the basics of linocutting.

It introduces you to the various materials, discusses differences between linoleum boards and shows you how to “think negatively” in order to transfer the desired motif onto the linoleum board.

Then practice transferring sketches. After the sketches have been applied to the plates, there are various cutting techniques.

Finally, you'll learn how to color the printing plates and then, of course, make your own prints!

Who is the class suitable for?
