About this class
Cognac is considered to be the noblest of all wine brandies. But the drink is by no means as elitist as it is often portrayed. Cognac covers a wide range of qualities that offer exciting experiences in glass. This depends on details of origin and production.
We answer basic questions:
Where can cognac come from?
Why does the word champagne appear on some labels?
What do abbreviations like V.S., V.S.O.P. and X.O. mean?
What are the approved grape varieties for cognac called?
BNIC Cognac Educator Erhard Ruthner explains the spirits category from the ground up and explains which details are important during production. Dive deep into the world of great brandy and learn that no degree in philosophy is necessary to unravel the secrets of cognac.
The Bureau National Interprofessionel du Cognac carefully selects spirits experts from around the world to complete their exclusive Cognac Educator course in Charente. After the examination, candidates are declared Cognac Educator. To date, around 90 people worldwide have held this title. Erhard Ruthner is the second Austrian to be awarded this title in 2022.
