Winegrowing is a family tradition for us
The Wechsler family has been growing wine since 1539 — at least when it was first mentioned in a document. As usual, viticulture used to be part of the mixed agricultural farm.
The representative heart of our winery is our manor house. The Wilhelminian style villa with outbuildings and cellar was built in 1889 and served as a wine shop. In 1923, the Wechsler family bought the property and made it the seat of their winery. At the beginning of the 1970s, Bert Wechsler converted the pure barrel wine business to bottled wines. Under his direction, the wine label was created back then, which still gives our wines their distinctive appearance today.
Since 1994, I, Joachim Ahl, stepson of Bert Wechsler, have been running the winery together with my wife Jutta Ahl under the name Weingut Bert Wechsler Erben. I have continued what my stepfather began. By constantly improving quality and reducing yield, I have turned the winery into a pure bottled wine business.
