Get to know Sonja Sawade
I am Sonja — a passionate course instructor and have been working with heart and hand in the world of creative techniques for over 20 years. In my studio right on the Baltic Sea in Süssau, I create a place where you can let your creativity run wild — without any previous knowledge, but with all the more joy of designing.
My shop is more than just a course room — it is a creative feel-good workshop, lovingly furnished, located right on the beach promenade and with a view of the sea. It can sparkle, fizz and even go wrong here — because that's where the best ideas often come from.
I focus primarily on three creative techniques, which I teach with great patience and enthusiasm:
Glass bead turning — With a steady hand and an open fire, you create your own pearls and small works of art from colorful glass rods. This ancient craft is fascinating because of its interplay with heat, color and form — and by the special feeling of having created something unique.
Reysin-Gießen — Whether elegant bowls, decorative plates, lanterns or imaginative figures: Working with Reysin creates beautifully shaped decorative and utility objects that you can design individually. Particularly popular with creative groups who want to create something lasting together.
Jewelry making — In my jewelry courses, you combine glass beads, semi-precious stones, metal and natural materials to create your very own piece of jewelry. Whether delicate, playful or eye-catching — real favorites with character are created here.
In addition, my workshop offers a wide variety of other creative techniques: from ceramic and porcelain casting to silk cloth painting and batik to seasonal decorative projects and imaginative crafts for children. The Glitter Bay is well equipped so that we can dive into very different materials, colors and shapes together — depending on the mood, season or occasion.
My courses are open to individuals, groups, families, friends, JGAs or children's birthday parties. Regardless of whether you simply want to spend time together or celebrate a special event — in Glitter Bay, you will experience creative hours that you will remember for a long time to come.
