Get to know Golden Cupcake
My name is Raheem Haidar
Perhaps some of you already know me from the Sat1 baking show “Das Grosse Backen”. I have been living in Germany since 2015 and studied law in my home country Syria. Unfortunately, my degree wasn't recognized here, so I had to take a different path.
My first job in Germany was in the catering industry, where I met my girlfriend and discovered my passion for cooking. Back then, baking wasn't my focus, as I had always bought cakes but was often not enthusiastic about them.
But at the beginning of 2020, I decided to stop buying cakes and bake them myself. I baked my first cake in March of the same year and couldn't stop. My girlfriend secretly advertised me at “Das Grosse Backen” and believed in me right from the start - she is my biggest support.
Participating in the show was a big challenge and a gamble for me, as I tried something new without fear of failing. But in the end, it was worth it and I became Germany's best amateur baker in 2022.
After this adventure, I realized that I wanted to turn my passion into a career. That is why I have now opened my own online shop for baking and cake accessories and give baking courses all over Germany.
