British-born Julie Johnson has lived in Germany since 1995. In Great Britain, she first studied German Philology and then completed her studies with a Master in Japanese Studies. In 2016, she was looking for a solution to her back pain. However, the intensive fitness training that she did as a coping strategy gradually turned into a source of terrible back pain and was the cause of numbness in her arms and legs. In the end, she had to give up the sports lessons she loved so much.
Her yoga teacher put her on a different track when she said one day: “If you don't transfer the mindfulness of posture and movement practiced in yoga into everyday life, you expect a great deal from your yoga class when you think it heals all pain.” Further research on the subject of posture never brought back pain to Julie in Esther Gokhale's book. Shortly after she began to learn the Gokhale Method from the book, the first improvements became noticeable. Julie understood that her posture and movement patterns were causing the pain. Changing their attitude was therefore the key to taking action again. After the basic course, Julie's back pain disappeared completely. In summer 2019, Julie flew to Palo Alto to train as a teacher with Esther Gokhale.
She loves teaching and enjoys sharing knowledge about the Gokhale Method and accompanying others on their journey to regaining comfort in their bodies. Julie teaches in German and English and is happy to give courses in other cities by appointment.
Julie is enjoying a successful, international career with a medium-sized company. She is happily married and mother of adult twins. In her free time, she likes to do qigong, hiking and does intensive sports again in the gym - she now knows how to adapt the exercises. She also plays the piano and sings in a choir.
