Get to know Friedrun Reinhold

Friedrun Reinhold, born in 1962, grew up in Switzerland and Schleswig-Holstein.

At the end of the 1980s, he set himself up as a freelance photographer in Hamburg.

Encounters with exceptional personalities shape his professional life: Whether actor or musician, whether scientist, entrepreneur or politician — it is the person who attracts him as a subject and who has his particular eye.

In addition to his work for companies, agencies and publishers, Reinhold is primarily concerned with portraits.

His works have been and are presented in numerous exhibitions.

The internationally award-winning photographer gives workshops and master classes, writes specialist books, is an author for magazines and has taught in Karlsruhe since 2004.

He is chairman of the IPQ international jury at the Federation of Professional Portrait Photographers.

Portrait photography is one of the most demanding tasks for photographers.

In addition to mastering the technology as a matter of course, access to your counterpart is extremely important. Only those who take time for the person, who recognizes and depicts the personality, can create a portrait and not a reproduction.

This requires sensitivity, the ability to consciously respond to people.

Hamburg-based photographer Friedrun Reinhold is an expert in people and portraits.

In addition to various assignments in commercial photography, his work focuses on people. Whether it's a series for cosmetics under palm trees, covers for CDs or journalistic portraits — he always requires and offers maximum empathy. Because the models are not always in a good mood, not every conductor gives himself the mercy of a photo shoot and, surprisingly, many a media star has a real “camera allergy.” As a photographer, you have to deal with the peculiarities of your subjects in good time so as not to dynamically step into the first fat bowl during the photo shoot.

The intuitive safety of using lights, cameras and people is always fascinating when you watch photographer Friedrun Reinhold at work.

“When things get complicated and hectic around me, I become very calm and clear,” says Reinhold, “because time is an important factor when taking pictures of people.”

With Friedrun Reinhold, you encounter the rare case of a personality photographing personalities. The results prove it. He has won international awards for his photos, author of specialist books and countless articles in the trade press, an inspiring workshop leader and has a teaching position at the University of Karlsruhe.

His photos have been shown in many exhibitions.
