Get to know Chelti
Our winery is located in the picturesque village of Shilda in the Kakheti region, at the foot of the Greater Caucasus in eastern Georgia. It was named after the river on whose banks it lies: the Chelti.
Kakheti is one of the warmest regions in Georgia and is considered the origin of Georgian wine culture. The special location of the cultivated areas in the Alasani Valley, between the Chelti River and the Caucasus Mountains, offers an almost ideal microclimate for viticulture.
The composition of our soils is heterogeneous and allows them to be used in a variety of ways. For example, we cultivate our eponymous wine Chelti on sandy-gravelly ground, while our Gunashauri is cultivated on clay-clay soil.
Take a look over our shoulders and experience the Georgian grape harvest up close!
