Get to know Atelier für Lebensfreude
Many ask me... and who is “Mene von Stein”?
Here is the story behind it:
I spent my childhood in Stein, near Nuremberg.
One day, an acquaintance of my mother came to visit and as it goes, he stood in front of me and asked: “What is your name then?” I answered, “Irene”... The visitor didn't understand me and said, “Mene, that's a nice name.”... I became angry, stomped on my foot and screamed: “My name is Irene!”
My siblings found it very funny and as children are, they raised me with the name “Mene”. Over time, the name grew more and more dear to me and so “Mene” became my nickname among family and friends.
Even as a child I loved to paint, sign my works of art and since I was made of stone with “Mene von Stein”
As I dedicated myself to art again, I reclaimed the name of my childhood and thus also a part of my childlike curiosity and willingness to experiment. That is also what I want for my customers: to see and discover the world through the eyes of a curious child.
