Why wild herbs?

I have been fascinated by wild herbs for a long time. Wild herbs grow and thrive completely without human intervention, which is rarely the case with cultivated plants. Wild herbs are extreme survivalists. They can withstand long periods of drought as well as poor soil conditions. They are hardly ever attacked by insects or fungi. You can safely do without chemical sprays. Not even artificial fertilisers appreciate wild herbs.

For me, the world of wild herbs feels like “shopping in nature's supermarket” with a huge range of different products, because every herb or plant is good for something. Wild herbs often contain a high nutrient density — concentrated superpowers for us humans from vitamins, minerals, trace elements and secondary plant substances. Many are said to have healing effects.

Wild herbs are therefore robust, resilient, full of health and extremely cheerful. They transfer all these enviable qualities to the person who eats them.

I am delighted to discover wild herbs in urban areas or snack, taste and collect the edible wild in the communal garden. I love incorporating herbs into wild cooking, adding herbal salts to mortars, shaking oxymels and tinctures regularly, or putting together tea blends.

With a few courses on natural remedies (herbology and health science), I have further deepened this existing curiosity and now want to pass on this knowledge about life-affirming wild herbs, make you think and encourage people to imitate them.
