WHISKY TASTING “ISLAND HOPPING” (30.11.2023)
During this whisky tasting session, we focus on Scotland's most exciting regions: the islands. This is where the most unusual and complex drops in the whisky world are produced. We want to discover them together! Classic representatives come from Islay, the Isle of Skye, Isle of Mull, Arran, Jura and the Orkney Islands. It gets smoky, oily and stormy during this tasting!
WHISKY TASTING “KING OF WHISKIES” (17.11.2023; 22.12.2023)
“King of Whiskies” is a perfect seminar for beginners. Eight different whiskies are tasted blindly. The bottles are packaged in such a way that you can't see what you're drinking. Scottish, Irish, Japanese, Taiwanese, Indian, US and German whiskies can be included. The aim is to find your personal favorite during this blind tasting session.
RARE WHISKEY TASTING (02.12.2023)
This outstanding tasting includes eight Scottish rarities from independent bottlers. We spent a long time airing at this tasting. The result is an absolutely exciting combination of young and old distillates. A rarity from Caol Ila stored in wine barrels can be there. Highlights can include a 17-year-old Blair Athol, a Mortlach from 1996 or a 21-year-old Craigellachie!
WORLD TRIP WITH WHISKEY (09.12.2023)
Do you know which country produces the most whiskey? Which state in the USA makes whiskey from corn and not barley? How is storage different in hot countries than in cool and rainy Scotland? Why is whiskey from Japan so popular all over the world right now? Together we are going on a “trip around the world with whiskey” this evening and get to the bottom of these questions. Traditionally, we start with distillates from Ireland and Scotland and then travel around the world!
“EXPERIENCE WHISKEY” — IT ALL STARTS WITH THE NEW MAKE (30.12.2023)
Experience whiskey the right way — from New Make to ancient distillate! What does that mean? This whisky tasting is all about production and storage time. That's why we start the tasting with a new make (raw distillate as it comes from the still). Then we slowly climb our way up to a really old whiskey. When storing barrels, not only time plays an important role, but also the type of barrel and the climate. The “Experience Whisky” seminar is therefore aimed at everyone who wants to understand whiskey and experience it in all its diversity.
TASTING PROCESS
After the presentation, we will explain the tasting process. It usually takes 10-15 minutes until we start the first tasting round. It is now a matter of professionally analyzing every whiskey tasted in the glass, in the nose and on the palate. Together, we learn how to correctly classify peat content and intensity. The professional likes to let the whiskey play on the palate for 30 seconds or more. Our whiskey sommelier tells the stories about the special wines, discusses differences in production and the characteristics of the regions.
In between samples, we neutralize our palates with bread and water. This is how we feel from whiskey to whiskey. Our speaker explains which spirit is particularly important to produce a neutral taste. After eight different types, the final word follows and the evening slowly comes to an end in a friendly atmosphere...
