About this Tour
This special city tour takes you right through Hamburg — but without sight. With a blindfold and a cane for the blind, you embark on a 3-hour journey of discovery that takes you from the main train station to the harbor. In doing so, you perceive sounds, smells and movements more intensively than ever before. The journey across the streets, squares and possibly even by ferry is an unforgettable experience. Guided and accompanied by an experienced guide, this tour is a profound change of perspective — for anyone who wants to experience Hamburg in a deeper way.
General
On all city tours, you wear a blindfold for the entire duration. You will receive a blind cane that is right for you and will be instructed how to use it. While you're exploring the city center, you're always hooked on to your tour guide — so you're always safe on the road. Your blind cane will warn you of obstacles; your guide will announce steps or other irregularities in good time.
The tours can generally start every day from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If your preferred date is not included, you are welcome to make an appointment request (at least 1 day in advance).
Steps of the tour
- Please let us know your height in cm in advance so that we can provide you with a suitable cane
- Meeting point: Hamburg Central Station, Wandelhalle, opposite DB Reisezentrum
- Introduction: You will receive blindfold & blind cane as well as a briefing
- Walking tour through the city center with various sensory stations
- Trip to the harbor — experience wind, water & soundscape intensively
- Optional: short ferry trip depending on wishes and weather conditions
- Flexible route — destination depending on group dynamics (e.g. back to the train station or to the port)
- Duration: approx. 3 hours
- A short break is possible along the way
