About this experience
More and more people are moving to cities and urban areas are becoming increasingly scarce. At the same time, the demand for fresh food is increasing and many roof and brownfields in large cities are unused. In 2021 alone, just under 90,000,000 m² of flat roof areas were built in Germany and 1,500,000,000 m² of inner-city fallow land was unused. We want to use this huge potential for growing vegetables to bring food production back to where it is eaten.
With our urban vegetable farm at Kontor in Erfurt, we made our first urban area green and edible at the beginning of 2022. On approx. 1,500 m², we grow vegetables, herbs, etc. on an old track system, which we sell to Erfurters as vegetable subscriptions.
