Our basic blacksmithing course gives you the unique opportunity to dive into the traditional art of forging.
Located right in a historic fort in Cologne-Bocklemünd-Mengenich, you will learn the basic techniques of art forging and create your own metal works of art.
Where does the groundsmithing course take place in Cologne?
The course is held in my blacksmith's studio within a historic fort of the former Prussian fortress ring in Cologne Bocklemünd-Mengenich.
How does this activity work?
- Theoretical introduction: Brief introduction to occupational safety, small iron science, tools and fire care.
- Practical implementation: Learn basic techniques such as stretching, bending, widths and tips on the anvil.
- Project work: Manufacture of everyday, artificially forged everyday objects or simple tools.
This course is a fantastic way to get started with the basics of forging and create your own works of art.
The course takes place from 12:00 to 18:00 including a 1-hour break.
The public course is limited to a number of participants of 5 people.
Group appointments can be made with up to 7 people using the appointment request function.
Who should definitely take part?
This course is ideal for anyone who has no previous experience in forging and is interested in manual work and creative metal design.
Women and men who feel physically fit and are interested in manual work are very welcome.

What to bring?
- Please wear sturdy work clothes and closed-toe shoes.
- Safety goggles and gloves are provided, but you can also bring your own.
What is included?
- All required materials are included in the course.
- Each participant has access to their own anvil and the necessary tools.
- Personalized service in small groups of 5 people.
- A snack for a joint lunch break.

Since 2013, my blacksmith's studio has existed in an old historic fort of the former Prussian fortress ring in Cologne Bocklemünd - Mengenich. The various artistic ironwork provides an insight into the almost unlimited design possibilities of malleable metals.
