About this experience

Dive into a green oasis in the middle of Hamburg. Why buy an expensive, finished terrarium when you can create your own sustainable work of art?

At Beats & Botanik, we combine relaxed live music with creative upcycling. In this DIY workshop, we will show you how to build a fascinating, self-sufficient mini ecosystem — a so-called bottle garden — from old glass you have brought along and plant the appropriate plants in it.

We experience in practice how sustainability and zero-waste are really fun in everyday life. A closed terrarium is like our earth in miniature: It has its own water cycle and shows us how valuable our resources are.

Leave the stress of everyday life behind you, listen to the handmade sounds of our live musician and finally take home not only new knowledge about our environment, but also your very own, lively terrarium.

A perfect experience for all nature lovers in the Hanseatic city who would rather design for themselves than consume something new.

How does this experience take place?

Arrive and get inspired (20 min.) : Greeting with relaxed live music. We'll talk briefly about the zero-waste philosophy, the importance of upcycling, and how a bottle garden works.

The 1x1 of the terrarium (15 min.) : A short, illustrative introduction to the various layers (drainage, activated carbon, soil, plants) with a live demonstration.

Creative construction phase (60 min.) : Now it's getting handy. Accompanied by live music, you'll build and design your own mini ecosystem. We are here to help you with tips and tricks.

Care tips and conclusion (25 min.) : How do you properly care for your terrarium so that it survives for a long time? We'll answer your questions, take a group photo of the results and clean it up together.

Who is it suitable for

This workshop is ideal for all Hamburgers (and everyone from the surrounding area) who is in the mood for a creative, environmentally conscious experience.

No previous experience is necessary at all.

Regardless of whether you have the proverbial green thumb or not — we'll show you how to do it step by step. The event is suitable for zero-waste enthusiasts, plant lovers, music fans and as a cozy get-together with friends and family.
