About this class
Food photography is an “evergreen” and concerns us all time and again. Because everyone experiences the very exciting connection between image and impact/reaction themselves & almost every day. Good food photos make us “mouth water” time and time again, whet our appetite and desire to enjoy. In the Food Photography: Basics workshop, I'll show you how we can easily and skillfully stage fruit and vegetables, baked goods and deserts, kitchen utensils, small plates, etc.
The right lighting, an exciting image structure, the seductive interplay with perspectives and depth of field... will keep us pleasantly practical and provide a perfect introduction to food photography. Both with every digital camera and (somewhat limited) with smartphones.
What you’ll do in the class
With our workshop, we will stay in the “cold kitchen”. It's practical, inexpensive and varied. Fruit, vegetables, baked goods, crockery... are very patient with our arrangements. Mood boards help us to “build” our motifs. — Cooking dishes first would be too complex for the “basics” (and also not possible in photo school). However, the knowledge gained can then, of course and at any time, be transferred to fresh and home-cooked dishes.
Who is the class suitable for?
Food photography: Basics is actually about some basics of food photography. We will of course focus on camera technology, but then we will also focus on image composition, lighting and perspectives, etc.: that is important. You are welcome to use the equipment you have for this: an entry-level camera with kit lens, a really good camera with a bright fixed focal length, possibly even with a macro lens... or even your smartphone.
