About this experience
Ebru is a traditional art form from Anatolia in which paints are applied to water surfaces and then transferred onto paper. The special surface tension creates flowing patterns that are never exactly reproducible. Each work is unique.
In this workshop, participants learn the basic techniques of Ebru art and experience how colors interact with each other on water without completely mixing. This process combines artistic experimentation with a meditative and decelerating work process.
In addition to practical work, the cultural and philosophical dimensions of this art form are also discussed. The different colors coexist on the same surface and together form a harmonious whole. An image that can also be transferred to the coexistence of different cultures.
At the end of the workshop, all participants take home several self-designed Ebru works.
How does this experience take place?
At the beginning, there is a brief introduction to the history and basics of Ebru art as well as an explanation of the materials and tools. It is then shown how paints are applied to the water surface and moved to create patterns using various techniques.
The participants then create their first Ebru pictures on water themselves. Step by step, various patterns are created, which are then transferred onto paper. During the creative process, there is individual support and space to experiment with colors and shapes.
