About the artist:
Julia Praschma lives and works as a freelance illustrator and designer in Berlin. Originally from the Ruhr region, she learned to fill the world around her — also through her illustrations — with color and positivity.
She sees herself as a hippie clownpunk barbie who loves to share resources, ideas and sometimes even her lunch. Spreading good vibes is their job. Many years of yoga and meditation practice help her to remain calm and present. But she also feels very comfortable in the midst of hustle and bustle, deadlines and mosh pits.
All these contrasts are reflected in her works, which are characterized by diverse themes, bright colors and wild compositions. Her specialty is exploring the limits of collage by playfully combining photographic material with illustrative elements.
She works primarily in the areas of editorial and branding. She now produces her works digitally, but always returns to analog.
How does this activity work?
Collage is a field of experience that allows participants to intuitively dive into the subject matter during Julia's “Experiment and Let Go” collage workshops. Simple tools such as paper, scissors, cutters and glue invite you to get involved.
Contrary to our work on screen, collage is a way to experience things with your hands, to de-construct material, and to create your own and novel compositions. Creating paper collages is relaxing. Participants are invited to engage in a meditative process, switch off, let go of everyday stress and express themselves in images and forms.
At the end of the workshop, participants can take home one (or more) finished paper collage (s).
Experimentation is clearly in the foreground here, detached from the pressure to fulfill a task or to produce a finished end product. It is important for Julia to create a relaxed atmosphere and a value-free space where you can exchange ideas openly.
Who should definitely take part?
The workshop is suitable for anyone who enjoys creative design, regardless of previous knowledge. Perfect for people who want to switch off and work artistically without pressure.
