About this class

Our Chinese sword art course in Bremen follows the true old tradition of Pa Kua and combines precise weapons technology with inner mindfulness. The courses take place weekly (1—3 times a week, flexible membership), in small, supporting groups in our studios in Bremen or Stuhr-Brinkum.

Beginners start with posture, grip and breathing, as well as basic cuts and stitches. Movement forms, step techniques and practice in various positions are added step by step. Advanced students deepen more complex forms and partner work with flowing, controlled movements.

Pa Kua's swordsmanship emphasizes clarity, calm and presence — not competition. Swords are provided; comfortable sports clothes are sufficient. Suitable for all ages and abilities, even for beginners without any previous experience.

What you’ll do in the class

In this class, we start with a full warm-up and stretching exercises, particularly for shoulders, wrists and hips, which are heavily stressed during sword work. We also explain the safety rules for handling the weapon.

In the main section, we show the correct grip, the basic posture and the most important cuts, stitches and blocks. We then practice short movements and forms, first slowly and concentrated, later more dynamically and with movement in the mat.

Finally, we practice calm, controlled movements and end the course with a short period of breathing and collection.

Who is the class suitable for?

Children aged 12 and over and adults of all ages can practice this course. Even when there are movement restrictions, we try to adapt and find a suitable path together.

If you want to train concentration, posture and precision while learning a traditional martial art, this course is for you.
