Class description
We brew a craft beer in small groups using our mini brewing system.
Under the guidance of Thorsten Schoppe, around 30 liters of the finest beer are produced and everything necessary and worth knowing about beer production is explained during the course. Course participants can have a say in what we brew and intervene and actively participate during the brewing process. A selection of high-quality raw materials will be available and we will decide together what comes out. There is also a hearty lunch and the chance to taste our beers.
Against the picturesque backdrop of our 1000 liter copper kettles, we set up our home brewing system and grind, mash, purify and cook a broth together, which is then fermented and matured on site. During the day, the entire brewery is also visited and we can squeeze small samples of our beers fresh from the various tanks.
Expiration:
The day starts with a cup of coffee together and a short introduction. After that, we will start preparing the mash quite soon and will also have plenty of time for explanations. The participants receive course materials and fill out a brewing report, which can be used to repeat the brewed brew if necessary.
At 12:30, we will have lunch. In keeping with the theme, the chef at Schankahlle prepares a delicious dish that we combine with a special craft beer to double the pleasure. The dishes change according to season and availability. Vegetarian options are available.
If you get hungry with beer beforehand, fresh bread with butter and quark is available during the day.
After that, it continues happily until we have finished brewing and bottling the beer into the fermentation vessel at around 3 p.m.
At the end, each course participant receives a mixed 6 pack of our beer to show off at home.
The finished beer can be tasted by participants in our taproom in Kreuzberg a few weeks later.
Instructor:
Speaker Thorsten Schoppe has been a beer brewer since 1994 and a brewery engineer with his own brewery company since 2001. Thorsten has been brewing craft beer before the word even existed in Germany and continues to enjoy his job. He has also been taking brewing courses for about 20 years and has a suitable answer to almost every beer question.
