About this class

In this weekend course, you will learn how to bake fine sourdough bagels. The course covers the complete production process from dough to finished bagel. The sourdough starter will be sent to participants by post a few days before the course, or even better picked up by themselves in the center of Munich. Optionally, you can also bake with a micro amount of yeast.

 

Course content:

  • Make dough: You'll learn how to make the perfect batter for bagels.
  • Sourdough basics: Care and basics for baking with sourdough.
  • Form dough: You will learn the correct bagel forming technique.
  • Cooking, topping and baking: Together we will cook the bagels to achieve the typical texture. You choose a topping of your choice, such as poppy seeds, sesame or “Everything Bagel” seasoning, before you finally bake them in the oven.

What you’ll do in the class

The course includes 4 online live zoom meetings:

Friday late evening: preparing the sourdough starter with a video

Saturday, 12:00: Introduction and dough preparation

Saturday, 1 p.m.: Sourdough Basics

Saturday, 19:00: Form dough and prepare topping

Sunday, 9 a.m.: Cooking and baking the bagels, final steps

On Sunday at 10:00am, you can enjoy your freshly baked bagels and even invite your friends over for a bagel breakfast!
