It all began in 2012 when I traveled to Maumere, Indonesia, for an international internship. I lived with a family that was part of a women's cooperative for six months. Using natural dyes, this women's cooperative made their own woven fabrics. During this time, I have acquired a lot of knowledge about natural dyeing, weaving and making ikat patterns.
During the corona pandemic, which was challenging for everyone, I too was looking for a balance. So I started gardening; I started a herb snail, tried my hand at tomatoes and then came across the dye plants at some point. Which opened up completely new possibilities for me in natural coloring.
