Alpine links, golf and grasslands
When planning the golf course, the focus was on two major pillars of the Golf Valley philosophy: A high level of sporting standards for the course, as well as the integration of numerous areas on which nature can expand in its diversity and originality.
Together with star architect David Kraus, a golf course was built on 154 hectares, which was intended to meet the requirements of modern and sporty golf. In view of the steadily increasing driving distances, which professional players were increasingly able to call on, a place had to be created that is also a challenge for these players. This balancing act between professional golf and amateur sport was overcome by a total of 7 (4 men, 3 women) tees. As a result, everyone in Golf Valley can live up to their requirements and playing strength.
Inspired by the “Home of Golf”, the courses on the coast of Scotland where golf grew up, a course was designed to reflect this character. The courses known as Linkscourse are characterized by their expanse, high and difficult rough, large bunkers and wastareas, lots of wind and last but not least: the location on the sea coast.
Apart from the sea view, we were able to achieve all this in Valley, and instead of the sea, we have the magnificent Tegernsee alpine landscape, which is why we see ourselves as an “Alpenlinks” course.
Down to the last detail, we have designed a course that should meet the highest standards of a golf course. The ground under the fairways, tees and greens was built according to the highest standards of golf course construction and sown with grass varieties grown especially for golf. Significant amounts of soil were moved to design the tracks and ondolation of the greens.
But it wasn't just the design standards of the square that were high. One of our favorite projects, which we are expanding and expanding year by year, is the integration of areas on which the plant and animal kingdom can expand undisturbed. Far away from pesticides, rare plants can grow here and insects and birds can find a new habitat.
Even before the German Golf Association's “Golf and Nature” project was launched, we planned and implemented these areas in Golf Valley together with the responsible environmental protection authority when building the golf course.
On so-called gravel and poor meadows, native native plants can spread again, which are only rarely found due to the outdoor area dominated by agriculture. From hawkweed to thistle, the blooming meadows between our fairways contain a variety of medicinal herbs and wild flowers. Some of these rare flowers are in turn essential for the survival of rare insects and butterflies, such as the blue ant.
