Ewa, the course instructor, welcomed us warmly to her small but nice studio. She responded to our ideas immediately and gave us very good guidance, explained a lot and supported us. There was even enough time for another piece of jewelry. The workshop is well equipped. The course is suitable for beginners and advanced learners. The atmosphere was very relaxed and it won't be our last visit.

Get to know Ewa Doerenkamp

I have been fascinated by jewelry since I was 14 years old, when I decided to become a goldsmith after an internship.

I've been making jewelry for 37 years now and it hasn't lost its magic.

I am interested in the limits, limits of materials, technology, what is feasible, but only in metal: gold, silver, iron. The linear and the contrast form major components of my work.

After 3 years in Italy, I returned to Germany, but this period was not recognized as an apprenticeship, so I apprenticed for another 2 1/2 years with the former Frankfurt Obermeister. After my journeyman's examination, I managed the workshop of a Darmstadt jeweler for 2 years until I realized that classic goldsmithing wasn't enough for me, bored me.

At the same time, I applied for the Hanau Drawing Academy Technical School, for the state-certified jewelry designer and a “graduate diploma of art, silversmiths” at the 'Canberra School of Art, 'Canberra, Australia.

Since 2000, I have been self-employed as an artist (artists' social security fund) in the field of jewelry, equipment and wire objects.

I received the Hessian Design Prize and the Hessian State Prize for my work and took part in many international competitions.

I buy my material exclusively from German companies and recycle the leftovers by melting them down, so almost nothing is lost.

Since 2005, I have had great pleasure giving courses under the motto: “The art of goldsmithing” and thus passing on my expertise in my beautiful goldsmith studio in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen.

. I work in small groups (maximum 5 participants) and this creates a lot of beautiful, individual pieces of jewelry and a lively exchange among the participants.

I offer private events.
