  • The platform currently offers more than 3,000 classes in Germany and Austria
  • Speedinvest led the €2.0M round with participation from Peak, Angel Invest, and the Atomico Angel Fund

Berlin, 23. February 2023 – konfetti, the SaaS-based marketplace for local classes and team building activities, has raised an additional €2 million in seed funding to become the go-to destination for local classes and team building activities across Europe.

Founded by Wolfgang Mauer and Tobias Fezer, konfetti will use the new capital to add more features to its platform and SaaS products, and to fuel expansion. For many workshop providers, digitizing and marketing their courses remains a challenge. "Paper and pen, phone and email are no longer up to date and customer oriented," says Tobias Fezer. "We solve exactly that and by integrating the konfetti checkout, course providers can extend their website with a powerful online store".

Over 750 local partners already use konfetti

Currently, more than 750 partners in Germany and Austria use konfetti and market more than 3,000 classes and events via the platform. “There are already about 70 categories, including cooking classes, baking workshops, pottery classes, painting classes, cocktail workshops, and tastings,” says Wolfgang Mauer. Launched in 2021 in Berlin, users can now find and book workshops in more than 250 cities. Hundreds of companies now use konfetti as their go-to source for organizing and booking team events and corporate parties.

More than just a booking platform

konfetti enables suppliers to manage their business and increase their sales with an all-in-one software. In doing so, the company actively markets the classes. At the same time, the workshop provider has significantly less administrative work. Many processes that were previously handled offline or manually can now be handled through the konfetti platform. Moreover, billing and invoicing, for example, is fully automated, tax compliant, and reduces unnecessary coordination with the company's own tax advisor.

Dominic Mölzl, who runs one of the best cocktail bars in Munich, Germany, says: "Since February 2022, I have offered cocktail classes in my bar. In addition to the platform, I also sell my events through the konfetti checkout on my website. And what can I say? It couldn't work better. konfetti is the best solution for local class providers".

New Work makes team events more important

Due to the pandemic and the shortage of skilled workers, companies have shifted to hybrid work models. Reduced face-to-face contact between employees makes team building more difficult in the New Work era and weakens corporate culture. Team events have proven to be an effective way to bring employees together and strengthen personal identification with the company.

While successful platforms have emerged in recent years, e.g. for tourist activities, there is a gap in the market for local workshops and team building events. Yet the market is huge: In Germany alone, there are more than 100,000 course providers.

"For us as a team spread across Europe, the digital cocktail class was a real highlight. We had a lot of fun with the instructor and everyone enjoyed the espresso martini,” says Senior Communications Manager Juliane Leupold of Tinder.

“We are convinced that konfetti has created the ideal platform to book local classes and set a new standard for both guests and workshop providers,” says Speedinvest Partner, Julian Blessin. “In a short period of time, Tobias and Wolfgang have built an impressive portfolio of workshop partners and a truly value-adding SaaS-enabled marketplace that is benefiting both customers and local providers.”

konfetti continues to enjoy the support of new and former investors

konfetti is thrilled to have top early-stage European VC, Speedinvest, as the lead investor and Peak, Angel Invest, the Atomico Angel Fund, and platform expert Sameer Singh as co-investors who believe in the vision of the company.

As part of a pre-seed financing round in September 2021, HelloFresh founders Thomas Griesel and Dominik Richter, Gorillas founder Jörg Kattner, early-stage investor Shio Capital, Zenjob founders Frederik Fahning, Fritz Trott und Cihan Aksakal, Amazon Manager Markus Meel, entrepreneur Martin Axnick and entrepreneur Ludwig Cramer-Klett have already invested in konfetti.
