Class description
In this workshop, we will focus on the techniques of linocut, etching and embossing. What makes our approach unique is the use of waste products as starting materials. You are cordially invited to actively participate and bring your own old packaging materials. Tetra packs, styrofoam, sponges and other similar wastes are suitable, for example.
Our workshops provide an excellent opportunity to turn trash into unique works of art. After you've developed your designs, you can print them on self-made paper. This handmade paper gives your works of art a special touch and is a sustainable alternative to conventional paper.
But that's not all: With your creations, you can also upgrade your clothes. Whether it's an old jacket, a worn out shirt or other pieces of clothing — by printing with your own designs, you can give them a new, individual look. In this way, something old becomes something completely new and unique, and your clothes don't have to be in the old clothes collection.
Our workshop is a great opportunity to fully express your creativity, learn more about sustainable art techniques and at the same time contribute to reducing waste. We are really looking forward to your participation and are looking forward to the many inspiring works of art that will be created from alleged trash!
How does this activity work?
Our creative workshop begins with a warm welcome and an introduction, during which the workshop leaders present themselves and the various printing techniques: linocut, etching and embossing. We explain the philosophy behind using waste products as art materials and show some inspiring examples.
In the next step, each participant selects the waste materials brought or made available to be used for the works of art. We show how to prepare tetra packs, styrofoam, sponges, and other materials for printing, and give a brief introduction to cutting and processing the materials.
This is followed by the design phase, in which you create your own designs on the prepared materials. Our workshop leaders are available to provide tips and guidance and help with technical questions. You can try out different techniques and refine your designs.
As soon as the designs are ready, the exciting printing process begins. You print your works of art on self-made paper, which we provide in the workshop. We'll show you how to carefully transfer the prints onto the paper for the best results and provide personalized assistance during printing.
After the printing process, you can use your freshly printed designs to embellish your own clothes. We'll show you how to apply the prints to textiles and which techniques are best suited to achieve long-lasting and impressive results. You have the option to print your clothes directly in the workshop.
