About this class
Experience a 5-hour hand building course in a small group of 4-6 people. You shape clay with your own hands and create plates, mugs, bowls or large objects such as vases, fruit bowls and sculptural works.
What you’ll do in the class
Session 1 — Hand Assembly
After a brief introduction to the world of ceramics, you will learn the three basic hand building techniques: pinching (pressing), coiling (beading technique) and slab building (plate technology). You work intuitively with the clay and create functional or sculptural pieces — for example plates, cups, bowls, candle holders, vases or completely free forms.
Your work will then dry for 7-10 days before it undergoes the first (scrubbing) fire.
Session 2 — Glazing
In the second unit, you refine and glaze your screwed pieces, focusing on the color design. A wide selection of stoneware glazes, underglazes and ceramic chalks is available. Your ceramics are then fired glazed at 1240 °C.
Who is the class suitable for?
The course is suitable for beginners as well as advanced learners.
Due to the small group size of max. 6 participants, individual support is possible and we respond to every person participating.
