About this class
Following the great success of the “Pottery for Children” course, I am also offering it during other school holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia. Individual appointments are possible on request (e.g. for children's birthday parties). There is no minimum number of participants.
The course is ideal as a family event with parents, grandparents, siblings or friends. The course fee is 40 euros per person (including sound, excluding burning costs). Adults benefit from a lower child rate.
In the 3-hour course, you will learn how to shape and design clay with your hands. In my cozy workshop in Telgte, you will playfully discover the versatility of the material. A wide range of impression shapes makes it easier for you to model successfully.
Leaves, feathers, tree bark and numerous pistils and stencils inspire the imaginative surface design of the clay. With modern, non-toxic glazes, you can paint your works immediately after sculpting. After firing, the glazes are dishwasher-safe and food safe.
My workshop is located in the basement of my apartment building. You can of course explore the garden, which is also home to chickens, cats and dogs. You'll find lots of inspiration here.
My home is located in the immediate vicinity of the “Ems Auen” nature park. After making pottery, take a stroll through the park to “Dümmert”. There, an adventure playground, benches at the weir and “Klein Borzburg”, a small “beach” on the Ems, attract further experiences.
Crossing the bridge, you will reach St. Clemenskirche. Right across the street, cafés, ice cream parlors and restaurants invite you to relax. Here you can end the day in the relaxed atmosphere of the historic market square.
What you’ll do in the class
Each child has their own space, with a manual turntable, sound and tools. Together, we will then freely model a small bowl under my guidance. The children can then decide for themselves what they want to produce. Of course, I am available to advise you here.
They are free to model or use one of the many forms of impression. We are also welcome to go out into the garden together and be inspired by nature. Here, natural materials such as leaves, feathers and tree bark complement the large selection of stamps and stencils available for surface design.
Right after sculpting, the children can paint their works with modern, non-toxic glazes.
Who is the class suitable for?
The course is suitable for children aged 6-14 years. We work in small groups with a maximum of 8 participants, but individuals are also welcome. Of course, accompanying adults are cordially invited to make pottery together with the children. In this case, the child price of 45€ also applies to them. This can be booked in addition to the “children's course”.
